These are great when you first start wearing them. However, the waistband begins to lose its elasticity rather quickly. I've purchased about 6 pairs of these over the years and after a few washes/dryings, what starts off as a great fit begins to hang off my waist and I have to continuously pull them back up. I've gone so far as to put safety pins in some of them but that doesn't work too well either. If they could improve this area, these would be great shorts. I don't usually wear mine unless I'm working in my yard during the summer, but by the end of the summer, after alternating between two pairs, I need to order new ones for the next year.

Like the others, 2XL true to fit for my 40" waist. Great in the pool or hot tub when a bit of modesty is needed. Again, if sitting in public, you may want to wear a G-string, thong, or jock to keep from falling out.

Your sizes are one size off. Your XL is not a 38. More like 40-42

These are a lot more skimpy than the photo suggests. The bottom hem basically follows the male bikini line. But unlike a bikini, the bottom is wide open so your stuff sort of jiggles out front and back. They might be useful for seduction, but leave the house in 'em and yer gonna git yerself arrested.
