I'm confused about the sizing. The chart shows size 34" is for 36" waist, but your comment seems to be that the sizing is small and I should go up 1 or 2 sizes? Can you clarify please

Yes, we are happy too assist you. When it comes to Adidas, these are: Competition Swimwear. These are meant to be tight on the body for competition swimmers, however anyone can wear them, it just depends on the fit you are looking for. Many customer choose the size they are to realize it is to small for them (again because they are so tight and are suppose to be that way for competition swimming) so this is why we suggest 1 or 2 sizes bigger.
If you refer to the chart from Adidas, you can see the Top Grey line is your actual size now and the Waist size if what they recommend for a better fit, Exp the grey size 30, the waist size is a 32.

I recommend you get the size to your MEASURED waist

They have stretch to them and are form fitting and are in even sizes. If you have a chunky butt then one size up. I am in between waist and have an athletic build so I got the nearest size down.
and they fit perfectly and look good on me. They have a draw string and are excellent for diving.
